This week...

This week we have been busy looking at different aspects of our topic. In history we looked at how toys were different in the past and looked at recognising the similarities and differences. We also started our DT project which everyone is excited about. We began with looking at healthy food and what would make a healthy lunchbox. Our maths work has been focused on using our place value when adding. During science we learnt about the importance of keeping healthy and hygienic. Everyone really enjoyed using glitter to learn about how germs spread.

Well done to our Citizens of the Week: Jack D and Darcy P

Thank you all for helping the children to settle so well into Year 2. I can't believe how much they have grown over the summer.

World Book Day

To celebrate our love of books and reading we had a pyjama party!
We all came to school in our pyjamas and brought our favourite bedtime story.

After our book swap in the morning we paired up with Reception and Year 1 so that we could read to somebody new.

This week...

All half term we have been trying to beat our scores on our 'Big maths Beat it' and to help us practise this week we have been using mathletics live. All the passwords and usernames have been stuck into the new reading records and so try to practise at home. From the amount of certificates that have been printed I can see that some children are already busy earning points at home.

Handa's fruity Surprise

As part of our work on Zambia we have been looking at stories set in Africa. To help us think of exciting adjectives ready for our story writing, Year 1 and 2 sampled some new fruits...

Some of us weren't too sure about the passionfruit!

Shape Top Trumps

During our maths this week we have been looking at 2d and 3d shapes. To help us learn about the properties of shapes we made our own top trumps cards.

African Drumming Day...

Visitor comes to Year 2!

What a fantastic time we all had with the African Drum Teacher. You all listened well and picked it up very quickly. Thomas had a little dance (which we all know he loves to do) and made everyone laugh!

Well done Year 2 I was so proud of you!
