We have had a fabulous week of writing in Year 2. We have slowly built up our story over the week learning about the different skills needed to write each part and the finished product from everyone is fantastic. In our science we deepened our understanding of how to make scientific observations by creating a comic strip to describe the changes to our plants. The class have worked very hard in maths when practising telling the time. All children have become much more confident and were able to apply their knowledge to time problems.
Well done to...

Last week of the half term
What a busy half term it has been. This week we have finished our KS1 SATS and I am so impressed with how well the children have done. Everyone has worked extremely hard during the tests and throughout the whole half term. We began and completed our DT project this week by learning all about how to join materials. The children explored different materials and found ways to join and move them. The class then designed moving animals to help bring ‘Handa’s Surprise’ to life for Reception children. Everyone was very pleased with their design. Well done for a fabulous half term Year 2! Enjoy a well-earned rest over the half term holiday.

This week...
Year 2 have been working very hard this week with the start of their SATS. The children have been extremely focused and have been applying all the skills they have learnt to their maths and reading booklets. When not working with me the children have been working with Mrs Cobb to produce some fabulous presentations all about Captain Cook. They have been able to research even more information, insert pictures, change text and select different transitions. Well done for a super week!

Friendship
Our Christian Value focus for this half term is FRIENDSHIP. During our collective worships we have been thinking all about what it means to be a good friend, how we can support each other and how we can make time for each other. To start off this topic we worked together to make friendship bracelets and then joined them altogether.

New activities in our Spelling Boxes
In our spelling session today we learnt all about contractions. We then used the playdough, pencils, sticks and foil to practise our spellings.
This week's spellings are: don't, didn't, can't, I'm, we're, hasn't, it's

Skipton Castle
We had a great time at Skipton Castle! We learnt lots of information on our tour around the castle and even went into the scary dungeon!
